Project for St. Cecilia’s Convent, 2011
Miscellaneous scrap wood and wood products, hardware, textile, metal staples

This piece was made for a pop up show, A Place to Which We Can Come, at the abandoned Convent of Saint Cecilia, in Brooklyn, New York which was curated by Serra Sabuncuoglu. Artists were invited to respond to the space. I was inspired by the light cast by the skylight, and the overwhelmingly institutional beige pallet of the deteriorating stairwell, as well as by my abiding love for Marcel Duchamp’s painting Nude Descending A Staircase.
